Today, Elnet Foundation celebrated The World Environment Day at Jara Abba Geda Primary School. This year the theme for World Environment Day on 5 June 2023 will focus on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution. According to UN Environment Programme – “More than 400 million tonnes of plastic is produced every year worldwide, half of which is designed to be used only once. Of that, less than 10 per cent is recycled.”
As part of Elnet Foundation’s environmental protection and restoration program, our Green Award club at Jara Abba Geda Primary School had plastic waste collecting campaign in the school compound and around it. The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness on the plastic waste management and proper disposal.
