We’re so glad to announce today Elnet Foundation and Pastoral & Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) signed a Memorandum of understanding to identify the deficits of veterinary services and welfare for working animals in the Horn of Africa. In this particular agreement the MoU first targets the Borana Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Few months back Elnet Foundation had contributed as its emergence support to the Borana drought. As a follow up to this action, the current collaboration between Elnet Foundation and PENHA has developed to include investigating the availability of technology and infrastructure in Ethiopia as well. This survey will gauge the knowledge gap and identify range of animal welfare issues; the outcomes will be used to identify how animal welfare and community resilience can be improved using targeted capacity building and other specific interventions.
