Bishoftu Integrated Children and Women Empowerment Project (BICWEP) was officially launched in Bishoftu together with the city administration.
The project aims to provide employment for 1,000 unemployed youth, to support children that are either abandoned or trafficked by providing temporary shelter and reunification with families, create income generating opportunities for most vulnerable families that have been displaced due to conflict. Finally it has a school feeding component which serves breakfast and lunch for 200 primary school students; a component which has already been started as the school year begun.
This five year, 75 million birr project is done in collaboration with Gudina Tumsa Foundation as the main implementation partner and in close collaboration with the city administration.
